Maxthon2 Final Released To Public

August 2nd, 2007 by Jake

Maxthon2 has just moved out of release candidate stage and is now ready for public consumption. Give it a try, download it here.

Maxthon2 sports a new look, free accounts that hold your favorites and other settings online so you’ll never lose them, and other neat little features like a built-in screen capture utility, built-in ad hunter/popup blocker, and content control (disable images, javascript, flash, ActiveX, etc). I’ve only just named a few, so go give Maxthon a try.

Trillian Astra Preview at BigBlueBall.com

February 8th, 2007 by Jake

Remember Trillian, the feature-ful multi-protocol free IM program? Well they’re back, and better than ever.

Check out the new version of Trillian, code-named Astra over at the BigBlueBall. Trillian Astra is a completely redesigned version of Trillian which sports faster load times, a sleek new interface, and a new web service they’re calling your “Astra Profile” which basically allows you to take your Trillian connection settings with you wherever you go (sign in using someone else’s Astra or use the web interface. You can even chat using the web interface! (Meebo killer? Only if it has a sleek, unfied design.)). In fact, that seems to be the new trend among internet related companies, taking your stuff with you wherever you go. The new Maxthon2 Beta allows you to create an online profile and store favorites and other settings remotely.

Overall, if the speed increases stay in place and the Astra Profile is designed well, I think Trillian Astra could be a success.

Maxthon 2.0 Alpha (Invite Only)

July 28th, 2006 by Jake

Alright, it’s time to see who really reads these.

If you would like an invitation to the Maxthon Invited Preview, please leave a comment with a valid e-mail address (I promise you won’t get spam).

The current alpha I’m running (2.0.0.5256) doesn’t have all the features of Maxthon 1.5.x yet, but I’ll give them leniancy there because the control panel is now 100% HTML and JavaScript (AJAX, if you wanna call it that), so they have to convert everything. I’m also running IE7, which adds most of the quirks of the Mozilla engine (stuff like PNG Transparency, proper CSS rendering, native tab support, built-in security), and Maxthon is like a cherry on top of the sundae. I love it!

Anyway, if you’d like an invitation to use this and all later versions of Maxthon 2.0.x Alpha, please leave a comment. I have 10 invitations, but I’ll only give out 5 here (I’m saving the other 5 for other people). Hurry up and comment!
