Line Rider: Cure Your Boredom

February 5th, 2007 by Jake

Somehow I stumbled across this at deviantArt. It’s a very very addicting little flash game, but it’s more than that. You create your own little track of sorts and then have this little sledding man ride the course you draw. You draw it in or use lines, then choose a start position, and click the play button. You’ll get this little guy with a red scarf on a toboggan riding on gravity and the lines you drew. Neat.

Now, you may think that this is a simple game and won’t last you ten minutes. But there’s so much more to it than that. You can choose either a normal line or an acceleration line, you can even continue moving the body after he’s fallen off his sled, you can send him flying through a solid line if he’s flying fast enough, and you can even send him flying through the air to do a number of different flips. I suppose the only objective here is to keep him on his sled, which can be difficult at times, especially with more advanced stunts, but there are some pretty amazing videos on the site that prove that some people have a lot of time on their hands.

Oh, did I mention the best part? You can save your track, close your browser, and reopen it later if you want to add or edit some parts.

Check it out: Play Line Rider by InXile (Be sure to read the directions, press “h” in edit mode and click on what you want to know about).
