Gotta Have My Music

September 19th, 2005 by Jake

So since I have a blog, I figured I’d go and find that old script, “iTunesBlogger”. It basically updates a page to let people reading your blog know what you were listening to last. Then I thought: Hmm, that can’t be so hard. Hence: iTBlog 1.0.

Coded with Microsoft Inet COM Control, Visual Basic 6, PHP, and MySQL (pronounced “Sequel” =P), it loops through every 2000ms or so and checks if the song has changed; if it has, send some POST data to a PHP page on this site which sends the POST data to a MySQL Table for storage. If the page is called as an include, it will echo the song in the database. The HTML tags are added to the mix in the PHP page.

So, now when you check my blog, check what I was playing last, as well. Oh, and I must warn you: I frequently repeat songs, I’m very picky about what I listen to when I’m on my computer.

If you want iTBlog for your own blog, post a comment and some means for me to contact you, and I’ll see what I can do for you.
